Fluoplus® Fluoropolymers: Facing Extreme Aerospace Environments
Case Study
In the aerospace field, the high-precision molding of composite parts, the strict sealing requirements for fuel systems, and the reliability of electrical systems under high temperatures and high pressures all pose huge challenges for materials. Fluoplus® ETFE and FEP release films, Fluoplus® fluororubbers and fluoroelastomers, and Fluoplus® ultra-high temperature resistant fluororesins are widely used in the aviation and aerospace industries. They are the core materials that keep equipment systems running safely.
Relying on its deep expertise in fluoropolymer technology, Fluoever New Material (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. provides global aerospace customers with a full range of high-performance fluorine material solutions. These range from high-end release films to precise sealing systems, and from heat-resistant resins to process accessories, helping aerospace manufacturing achieve higher safety and reliability under extreme working conditions.
Fluoplus® ETFE Film and FEP Film

These films are used for autoclave mold release of aerospace composite materials. Extremely low surface energy and chemical inertness ensure that no resin sticks to high-temperature molds, preventing contamination and allowing for fast, accurate subsequent processing and continuous batch production. Material stretches very well at high temperatures, easily fitting complex 3D molds without tearing or causing vacuum leaks. In addition, its ultra-thin profile and precise thickness control prevent any residue after demolding. With customizable hole-punching options, it accurately controls resin flow and gas release.
Fluoplus® Fluororubbers and Fluoroelastomers
These are key materials used for fuel system control, precise sealing, and high-temperature cable protection. They are highly resistant to swelling caused by aviation fuel and special hydraulic fluids, keeping their physical shape stable even after soaking in liquids for a long time. The material also resists losing its shape under pressure, allowing it to handle extreme temperature changes and high-frequency vibrations without hardening or tearing. This makes it an essential material for ensuring the safe, long-term operation of aircraft fluid systems.

Fluoplus® Ultra-High-Temperature Fluoroplastic

This is a linear perfluorinated plastic that combines extreme heat resistance with top-tier electrical insulation and chemical protection, similar to PTFE. Its excellent electrical properties and resistance to electrical sparks make it a reliable choice for insulating and protecting high-temperature, high-voltage electrical systems. This ensures highly reliable signal transmission under extreme conditions. Its excellent melting and processing properties also make it easy to manufacture standard wires or complex profiles through high-speed extrusion or injection molding.
Why are Fluoplus® Fluoropolymers Widely Accepted in the Aerospace Industry?
Excellent high and low-temperature resistance, extremely low friction, and outstanding chemical stability make Fluoplus® fluoropolymers the ideal choice for solving some of the toughest problems in aerospace engineering. The main advantages are:
Excellent long-term heat resistance (Thermal Stability):
Fluoplus® fluoropolymers perfectly resist heat aging and degradation. Both the ETFE grade (recommended for continuous use at 150°C) and the FEP grade (recommended for continuous use at 200°C) remain stable over long periods of high-temperature operation. Additionally, special heat-resistant grades can withstand sudden extreme temperatures over 300°C (260°C). They are perfectly suited for high-heat areas like engine surrounds and jet wakes, keeping structures stable despite thermal changes.
Outstanding chemical inertness and stain resistance (Chemical Resistance):
Fluoplus® fluoropolymers do not react with almost any chemicals, effectively resisting long-term soaking and corrosion from harsh fluids like aviation fuel, special hydraulic fluids, and de-icing fluids. Their superb weather and UV resistance ensure they maintain their original properties even under intense UV radiation at high altitudes, significantly extending the lifespan of system components.
Excellent surface energy and anti-stick properties (Low Surface Energy):
Extremely low surface energy creates a great anti-stick effect. When used as a release film in composite molding, it guarantees separation without any leftover resin. This feature also gives precision seals excellent self-lubricating and dirt-resistant qualities, preventing seal failures caused by dust or dirt buildup.
Outstanding electrical insulation and anti-static properties (Electrical Insulation):
In aviation electrical systems, materials with high dielectric strength and low dielectric constants are crucial. Fluoplus® fluoropolymers offer excellent electrical insulation properties, outstanding thermal stability, and reliable performance under demanding operating conditions, making them well suited for high-performance electrical components and insulation applications in the aerospace industry.
